Berlin – virtually destroyed by bombing during World War II. Berlin Wall was 96 miles long and divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. Checkpoint Charlie was the single crossing point in the wall.
Potsdam – held the “Potsdam Conference” in 1945. Big three heads of state – American President Harry S. Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin.
Dresden – the bombing of Dresden in World War II killed approximately 25,000 people and destroyed the entire city center.
